Past Funding

In 2016 the Task Force received a federal grant from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to fund direct services for survivors of human trafficking and a specialized detective to take the lead on investigations of human trafficking.

This funding went to Waypoint to provide direct services and the Manchester Police Department for specialized investigative work, done in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations.

Current funding

In 2019 the above grant concluded and New Hampshire was awarded a further grant through the DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Assistance to now fund two specialized detectives.

This funding is coordinated by the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General and is dispersed to the New Hampshire State Police and the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office, both providing investigative and training services in partnerships with Homeland Security Investigations. Funding has also been provided to the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence to support Task Force coordination.

Next Steps

The Task Force is currently engaged in a needs assessment to gauge what services and resources are needed or must be expanded in NH. Once that assessment is completed, further funds from the DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Assistance will be allocated to meet the identified needs.

Through all of this process the Task Force has received financial and in kind support from our partners across the state.

Purpose of funding

With all of this funding, the Task Force is able work with partners to provide services and support to victims/survivors of human trafficking, work alongside survivors to improve our response, investigate and prosecute sex and labor trafficking cases, provide training, engage with and build awareness in the community, and collect and evaluate data on the work being done across the state.
